Alcoholics Anonymous

Steps in Frankston Group

Saturdays 7:00pm
St. Paul's Church Hall,
High Street, Frankston

Our Primary Purpose is to stay sober and
to help other Alcoholics to achieve sobriety.

The next 13 week series starts
Saturday 29th May 2010

What sort of meetings is it?

This is a regular Alcoholics Anonymous meeting that focuses on the A.A. Program - The Twelve Suggested Steps - One step at a Time.

What happens at the meeting?

Members are asked to read from the "Big Book" and the "Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions' and to share their Experience, Strength and Hope related to the particular step. Members are encouraged to ask questions. (You don't have to read or share if you don't want to. Members should feel comfortable to decline reading or sharing.)

Is the meeting like a lecture or class, someone telling you what to do?

No, it is not a lecture. There is a Chairperson who selects the readings and keeps the meeting focused on the particular step being discussed.

The meeting is about sharing Experience, Strength and Hope. It is not about expressing opinion or argument.

Who can come to the meeting?

This is an open meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous. This means that anyone who has a desire to stop drinking may attend.

Is this where I do the steps?

We don't ‘do' the steps in the meeting; we just share the information and experience. It is up to the individual members to work the A.A. program as they see fit in light of their own experience.

What is a "series" of meetings?

The meetings are run as a complete series over 13 weeks. At each meeting we focus on just one or two steps. It is desirable to have one chairperson for each series. The experience of chairing a series adds considerably to ones sobriety.

Do I have to start at the first meeting of the series?

You can come along to any meeting at any time and learn something and share your own experience OR, like many members have done, you can make a commitment and attend all 13 weeks of a series of meetings.

Who runs the meeting?

The Steps in Frankston Group is an autonomous group just like any other A.A. Group.

It is made up of regular A.A. members trying to carry the message to other Alcoholics.

When should I come to this type of meeting?

Do I need to bring anything?

"The essential ingredients are Honesty, Open-mindedness and Willingness. These are indispensable."
